Memorial service for Richard E. Block 91, of Leo, Tx are set for Wednesday April 2, 2014 at 2:30 p.m. at the David Lefkowitz Chapel of Temple Emanu-El in Dallas, Tx. Richard passed away on March 29, 2014 at his home.
Richard was born on February 5, 1923 in Greenville, Tx to Frank and Etta Block. He graduated from Highland Park High School, University of Texas and the Medical Branch of the University of Texas. Richard served in the United States Navy in WWII and the Korean War, he served Internship at St. Louis City Hospital and Medical Residency in Internal Medicine at the VA hospitals in McKinney and Dallas. Richard practiced Internal Medicine and Geriatrics in Dallas from 1953-2000., he was past Medical Director of the Dallas Home for Jewish Aged, served in the Presbyterian Hospital Senior Medical Centers, and was an Associate Clinical Professor of Medicine at the Southwestern Medical School. Since moving to the country in Cooke County he did volunteer work at the Area Agency on Aging.
Richard was a life member of the Dallas County Medical Society, Texas Medical Association, American Medical Association, member of the American College of Physicians, a fellow of the American Geriatrics Society,, American Gerontological Society and the Royal Society of Health.
