Mr. Westbrook passed away Saturday, April 12, 2014 in a horse riding accident near Walnut Bend.
Dee was born in Gainesville on July 17, 1962 to Doyle and Dean Westbrook.  He graduated from Callisburg High School in 1980 and attended Cooke County College.  As a young man he was employed at various times by Diamond L. Appaloosas, Bob's Tank Truck Service and National Supply Co.  In 1984, he was hired by Lone Star Gas Co. and continued to work there for the next 19 years.  In 2003, he began working for Production Measurement & Testing, serving a large portion of North Texas and Oklahoma as a gas measurement and communications specialist.

On June 1, 1985, Dee married Monica Grubaugh in Sherman.  This union was richly blessed with three precious daughters:  Meghann, Emily, and DeLynn. These girls and their mama were the most important earthly things in his life, and he was very determined to be an active part in their lives. He coached them through the Gainesville Youth Center in basketball and softball. He taught them to ski, and to work cattle. Mostly, he taught them to put serving God as a priority in their lives.

Dee led an active lifestyle with many hobbies and interests. He loved working with horses and cattle from a young age, competing in numerous rodeos and ranch rodeos on into his adult life. He loved fishing and hunting in the mountains, along with snow skiing and whitewater rafting. He also enjoyed dirt bike riding and four-wheeling with friends and family. He was currently pursuing his dream of flying by passing his FAA test and had several hours of flight instrution completed. His main drive and passion in life above all else was to live a life that would honor God and to be an example for Him whenever he could.
Dee is survived by his wife Monica of Gainesville; daughter Meghann Westbrook of Denton; daughter and son-in-law Emily and Landon Fields of Alva, OK; daughter and Fiance' DeLynn Westbrook of Callisburg and Matt Farrar of Guntersville, AL; parents Doyle and Dean Westbrook of Callisburg; sister and brother-in-law Sherlynn and Everett Finch of Kingston Springs, TN; sister and brother-in-law Deanna and Calvin Farr of Bennington, OK; mother-in-law Doris Ashley of Sherman; brothers-in-law Linc Grubaugh of Sherman and Payton Grubaugh of Ardmore, OK.  He is also survived by many aunt, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
