Electa Carol Arrington Taylor, loving friend and educator to many was welcomed into the arms of her Savior Tuesday May 20 in a Fort Worth hospital after a very brief illness. The service will be graveside on Thursday May 22 at 2:00 p.m. at Fairview Cemetery in Gainesville with the Rev. Ken Hildebrand officiating ,services are under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll and Son Funeral Home.

Born August 25, 1928 in Gainesville, Texas. She was the only child of Bertha Parmley Arrington and James C. Arrington. Her early years were spent in Gainesville and then she graduated from North Texas State in 1949. She also attended Texas University and Tulsa University. She taught in almost all grades through 2nd year college. After a teaching career of many years in many cities and towns, she became a counselor in the Gainesville school system.
She had been a member of American Assn. of University Women, Texas Assn. Deans of Women, Soroptimist, Official Board of 1st United Methodist Church, Delta Kappa Gamma Society, Charter Member of Cooke County Heritage Society, American Heart Assn., Former President and life member of Texas State Teachers Assn., Texas Personnel and Guidance Assn. Disabled American Veteran’s Auxiliary, held many offices in the Business & Professional Women Assn..
High School Honors: Sophomore Class Secretary, Cheerleader.
College: Student Body Secretary,Class Favorite, CheerLeader, Dormitory President, Dean’s Club.
She married her husband Richard G. Taylor in 1953 and they made many moves due to his job. He passed away in 1963 from a Service connected injury which caused him to have Multiple Sclerosis. Electa had moved back to Gainesville to be near her parents.
Electa is preceded in death by her father, James C. Arrington, mother Bertha Parmley Arrington her husband Richard G. Taylor, special friend Bill Ritchey, her beloved dog Patty and other close family members.
Electa is survived by Yvonne Patterson Harpole, surviving wife of Electa’s only cousin, James P. Harpole and their children and grandchildren and many close loving friends who will miss her very much. You may sign the on line registry at geojcarroll.com
