James C. “Jim” Blythe (72) of Lake Kiowa went to be with his Heavenly Father on June 13, 2014. Jim was born on February 3, 1942 in Dumas, TX to George William and Hazel Geneva (Wibbing) Blythe. He married his college sweetheart Dianne DuBose in Abernathy, TX on August 15, 1965. Jim and Dianne lived in the Gainesville area for over 39 years, with the exception of 5 years in Coppell, TX. Jim was co-owner and operator of the Physical Therapy Center, Gainesville, TX.
He graduated from McMurry College in Abilene and Baylor University School of Physical Therapy in Dallas. Immediately following graduation, he was commissioned into the U. S. Army, serving seven years as a physical therapist the Viet Nam era. He was honorably discharged as a Captain. Following his discharge, he established the Physical Therapy Center in Gainesville, TX with partner Alan Trammell where he continued to work until his death. Jim was a member of Gainesville First Baptist Church.
Survivors include wife Dianne, son Clint and wife Tami Blythe of Decatur; daughters Chrisanne Blythe of Kaufman, and Lundyn of the home; grandchildren Layni and Zane Blythe of Decatur; brothers Don and wife Barbra Blythe of Fritch, Bill and wife Jill Blythe of Lake Kiowa, Ben and wife Georgia Blythe of Lake Kiowa; brother-in-law Larry Lambert of Dumas; brother-in-law Richard and wife Joan DuBose of Canton; and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister Rose Ann Lambert.
Visitation will be held at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home, Gainesville at 6:00 p.m. Sunday, June 15. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Monday, June 16 at First Baptist Church in Gainesville. Interment will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, June 19, 2014 at the DFW National Cemetery, under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.
