David Ray Mitchell

A visitation for David Ray Mitchell, 67, of Gainesville, is set for 6:00 pm Wednesday, June 25, 2014 at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. A private burial will take place at a later date.

David was born on July 27, 1946 in Roanoke, VA to Byron Travis and Kathleen Ada (Rand) Mitchell. He passed away on Sunday June 22, 2014 in Denton.

David proudly served in the United States Air Force. He loved to be outside, especially farming, hunting, and fishing. He had a passion for telling tall tales.

He is survived by his wife Janet Mitchell of Gainesville; daughter Michelle Yeatts and her husband Michael Lovell of Gainesville; daughter Tanda Stringfellow of Lindsay; son Micheal Mitchell of Gainesville; mother Kathleen Mitchell of Florida; sister Darlene Nemeth and her husband Bob of Florida; sister Deana Faria and her husband Dave of Florida; sister Debbie Peterson of Florida; grandchildren Lindsay Mitchell, David Mitchell, Clay Mitchell, Megan Yeatts, Miranda Yeatts, Taylor Stringfellow, Taryn Stringfellow, and Jayden Stringfellow; He is also survived by a great-granddaughter Zoey Spicer, and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father Byron Mitchell; daughter Ellen Marie; and brother-in-law Mark Peterson.
