Leonard Odom

February 12, 1909 — July 18, 2014

Funeral service for Leonard Odom 105, formerly of Gainesville will be held on Monday July 21, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. in the Geo. J. Carroll and Son Chapel in Gainesville, Tx with Pat Sharp and Earl Dozier officiating with burial to follow in the Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Monday July 21, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. til 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Leonard was born February 12, 1909 in Era, Tx to Lee Roy and Mary Olive Lang Odom. He graduated from Era High and attended Draughn's Business school in Ft. Worth

Leonard's work history included working at Tyler- Simpson Wholesale grocers, working at Gainesville National Bank and owning and operating Odom' Dry Goods and Clothing Store. Leonard served in the U.S. Navy during World War II aboard the U.S.S. Freestone attack-transport ship.Leonard married Cornelia Hightower on June 16, 1934 and they enjoyed 71 years of marriage.

Leonard was a lifetime member of the Commerce Street Church of Christ where he served many years as a Elder. He considered Gainesville his home town and cherished the friendships he made through his church, business and neighborhood

The family would like to express their appreciation to the many friends Leonard made during his 13 years of living at the Waterford Retirement Center in Ft. Worth, also to Dr. Brett Cochrum M.D. for his many years of care and the Alta Mesa Church of Christ for their services..

Leonard is survived by his daughters LaNeta Terryn and her husband Fred of Fort Worth, Tx and Jeanie Spivey and her husband R.L. of Olney, Tx. Grandchildren Connie Kramar and her husband John of N. Potomac Maryland, Maxey Overton of Fort Worth, Tx, Nita Smith of Euless Tx, Randy Spivey and wife Claire of Olney, Tx and Susan Holland and her husband Daniel of Graham, Tx and eleven great grandchildren Colleen, Stephen, Gavin, Wesley, Lane, Sarina, Jake, Mason Leah, Luke and Nathaniel.

Pallbearers will be family Maxey Overton, Randy Spivey, Lane Spivey, Mason Spivey, Daniel Holland, Jake Holland and Luke Holland.

He was preceded in death by his parents Lee Roy and Mary Olive Lang Odom, and his wife Cornelia Odom.
