Jane was born on February 26, 1947 in Sherman to Harmon Francis and Lucille (Roberts) Cope Sr.. She died in Gainesville on August 21, 2014.

She is survived by her partner Cindy Martin of Gainesville; step-children Jennifer Etter, Michael Etter, and Audra Powell; and eight grandchildren.
