William Eugene Dankesreiter

A funeral mass for William "Bill" Eugene Dankesreiter, 81, of Lindsay, is set for 10:00 AM Friday, October 31, 2014 at the St. Peter's Catholic Church in Lindsay, with the Rev. Phil Petta officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Peter's Cemetery under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. A rosary with visitation to follow will be held at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home at 6:00 PM on Thursday, October 30, 2014.

Bill was born on July 5, 1933 in Tioga to Frank and Francis (Simmel) Dankesreiter. He passed away on October 27, 2014 in Gainesville.

Bill grew up in the Pilot Point community. Early in his working career, he worked for a cabinet shop and enjoyed making things from wood. During this time, he met and married Henrietta Furhmann Dankesreiter. Soon after they married, the opportunity arose for Bill to open his own business. They moved to Lindsay and opened Bill's Liquor Store. In 1966, the couple welcomed a son, Gary Dankesreiter. In 1969, a daughter Julie joined the family. After a total of 49 years in the business, he decided to sell the store and retire. The last few years he enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. He was loved by everyone and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years Henrietta of Gainesville; daughter Julie Johnston and her husband Tom of Valley View; son Gary Dankesreiter of Lindsay; grandchildren Jerad Rauschuber, Jase Raushuber and his wife Nicole, Jamie Rauschuber, Arianna Johnston all of Valley View, and Jacob Johnston of Allen; and great-granchildren Rilynn Rauschuber, and Jay Ross of Valley View. He is also survived by his brother Walter Dankesreiter and his wife Marylou of Pilot Point; sister Margie Todd and her husband J.W. of Pilot Point; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great- nephews.

He preceded in death by his parents; sister Rita Vannoy; sister MaryAnn Maier; brother Arthur Dankesreiter; and brother Eugene Maier.

Pallbearers will be David Todd, Steve Haverkamp, David Furhmann, Jerad Rauschuber, Earl Koelzer, Robbie Leorwald, and Jody Henry.
