Vera Blanche Thompson

Funeral services for Vera Blanche Thompson, 99, formerly of Gainesville, are set for 2:00 PM Sunday, January 18, 2015 at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J. L. Williams officiating. Burial will follow in the Fairview Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 PM Saturday, January 17, 2015 at the funeral home.

Blanche was born October 6, 1915 in Vilott, Texas to John William and Mary Susan Finley Grundy. She passed away on January 15, 2015 in Highland Village.

Blanche married Elbert J. Thompson in Ardmore, Oklahoma and he preceded her in death on October 27, 1986.

She is survived by her son Jim Thompson and wife Jonell; son Keith Thompson and wife Karen; daughter Faye McDowell and husband Michael; grandchildren: Kathy Nations and husband Tommie, Becki Harris and husband Billy, Crystl Valkavich, John Kraig Thompson and wife Ami, and Kristi Tieman. She is also survived by fourteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter; her sister Madge Cottrell of Oklahoma City, OK; brother J. W. (Pete) Grundy of Stephenville; sister Florine Lance of Whitesboro; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and five sisters.

She will be missed by her family and friends.
