Graveside service with Military Honors for Robert Louis Rubrecht 91, of Gainesville are set for Friday May 8, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the Pavilion at Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Larry Kremling officiating The family will receive friends on Thursday May 7, 2015 from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. at the Geo. J. Carroll and Son Funeral Home.
Robert Louis Rubrecht 91, of Gainesville passed away peacefully at his home on May 5, 2015 with his wife of 72 years and other family members at his side. Robert was born in Gainesville on February 28, 1924 to Elsie Alena ( Boaz ) and Henry Louis Rubrecht. He had two siblings, Henry Fred and Elsie Pauline Rubrecht.
Robert married Edith Jessie Isaacs on February 24, 1943 in the Gainesville Courthouse. He entered the United States Army on February 25, 1943 where he was a Private in Battery C552nd Coast Artillery Batillion. Robert was a gunner for the 552 Anti Warcraft Batillion and served in five major Campaigns of World War II; Normandy, Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. He received the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, European- African- Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 5 Bronze Stars, World War II Victory Medal, Honorable Service Lapel Button WW II and Marksman Badge with Rifle Bar. Robert was honorably discharged on October 31, 1945. He helped build and dismantle Camp Howze.
Robert was employed by Amtex Box Company in Garland Tx from 1960-1970, however; most of his working career was in the Oilfield industry. He enjoyed spending time outdoors on his land working with the animals and he especially loved all the visits with his granddaughter and great granddaughters and all the family and friends that came to visit the farm. Many good times were had through the years.
Survivors include his wife Jessie, daughter and son in law Patricia and Danny Greenlee, granddaughter Tracy King, great granddaughters Katie and Jenna King, sister Pauline Musgrove, brother in law Douglas Isaacs and wife Sharon, sister in law Betty Isaacs, Sarah Isaacs and many nieces and nephews.
Robert was of the Protestant faith and was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter Susan and brother Fred The family would like to give a special "Thank You " to the Hospice Plus team for all the assistance and support given to our loved one and our family during the past six months. We consider you part of our extended family and appreciate all of you for everything you have done. Family will serve as Pallbearers and Memorial Contributions may be made to the Stanford House or Hospice Plus 116 W. Woods St. Sherman, Tx 75092..
