Barbara Vinson Sanford

Memorial service for Barbara Vinson Sanford 86, of Gainesville are set for Tuesday June 23, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church with the Rev. Don Yeager officiating. Barbara passed away on June 19, 2015 in Gainesville.

Barbara was born on May 25, 1929 to H.C. and Lela Mae Burns in El Dorado Arkansas and graduated from El Dorado High School.

Barbara married John A. Vinson on December 31, 1955 and he passed away on March 14, 1983. She married Louis O. Sanford on February 8, 2003 and he passed away on October 28, 2013. She is also preceded in death by her parents and sister Pat Sanford.

Barbara is survived by her children: son Mike Vinson and his wife Laura of Sanger, Tx and their children, Ray and wife Jewel of Houston and Sarah Vinson, Ryan, Zachary and wife Megan, daughter Mary Beth and husband Philip Newton of Gainesville and their children, Bret and Cassie Newton, and son David Vinson and his wife Angela of Flower Mound and their children, Chase and Andrew Vinson. Great grandchildren Alyese, Mason and Hailey Rae Vinson. Step children Louis O. ( Skip ) Sanford Jr., Sandy Sanford and Rhonda Roberts all of Arkansas. She is also survived by several beloved nieces and nephews and a host of dear friends.

Barbara was a long time member of the First United Methodist Church of Gainesville, and was active in the Chancel choir, UMW, and many other areas of the church ministry. She had a lifetime membership in the PTA and enjoyed being involved in clubs and other organizations. She also loved watching sports, especially Texas Aggie baseball, dancing, sewing,cooking and reading. Barbara was an avid supporter of her children and grandchildren's activities.
