John Arthur Du Bois

A memorial visitation for John Arthur Du Bois, 83, of Gainesville, is set for Wednesday, 24, 2015 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. Interment will take place at a later date at the Hackettstown Union Cemetery in Hackettstown, New Jersey.

John was born on March 11, 1932 in Dover, New Jersey to Harold S. and Gladys (Cougle) Du Bois. He passed away on June 20, 2015 in Denton, Texas.

John graduated from Flemington High School in Flemington, New Jersey, where he played varsity baseball. He attended college at the University of Maryland, and Lehigh University, where he was a member of the Phi Mu Chapter of the Alpha Chi Rho Fraternity. In 1953, he enlisted in the U.S. Air Force, and served in the 8th Air Force Strategic Air Command at various U.S. bases. He was a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 1922, Gainesville, Texas. After his military service, he returned to college, graduating in 1959 from Rider College in Trenton, New Jersey with a degree in Business Management. His business experience as an Industrial Engineer and in Manufacturing Management, positions by companies such as RCA, Westinghouse, Mattel, Aurora, Bendix Corp., R-Tec System, and Weber Aircraft, kept him moving all over the U.S.A.

He is survived by his wife Phyllis of Gainesville; son John Steven Du Bois of Gainesville; Marc Alan Du Bois of Flower Mound; daughter Lauren Ann Worley and her husband Eric of Gordonville; granddaughter Melissa Stewart and her husband Steven; granddaughter Megan Du Bois; great-grandchildren Marissa Andujo, Makayla Andujo, and Sophia Vargas. He is also survived by his brother Gary Evan and his wife Mary Lou of Flemington, New Jersey.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
