Aubrey Lee Spires

Graveside service for Aubrey Lee Spires 92, of Gainesville are set for Tuesday September 1, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. in the pavilion at Fairview Cemetery with Dustin Bennett officiating. The family will receive friends on August 31, 2015 from 7;00 p.m. to 8;00 p.m. at the Geo. J. Carroll and Son Funeral Home., Aubrey was called home to the Lord on August 29, 2015 in Gainesville.

Aubrey was born on June 19,1923 in Gainesville, Tx to Cicero H. and Alma L. Rosenfield Spires. He was a retired fireman with the Gainesville Fire Department as well as a self-employed automotive mechanic. Additionally, he served his Lord as Pastor of Marysville Baptist Church in Marysville, Tx. for 46 years. Aubrey was a WWII veteran having served with the US Navy in the Pacific Theater of Operations. He was an avid aviation enthusiast throughout his life but his favorite pastime was sharing his knowledge of the scriptures with others.

Aubrey is survived by his son Nelson Spires and daughter in law Martha ( Blagg ) Spires of Colorado Springs,, CO. and daughter Donna ( Spires ) Bennett and son in law Richard Bennett of Webster, Tx.., sister Edna Litsey of Fort worth, brother Harlan Spires of Gainesville , brother James Spires of Addison, Tx five grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.

Aubrey was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years Helen ( Nelson ) Spires from Burlington, KS and one grandson Michael Spires. You may sign the on line registry at geojcarroll.com
