Jody Joseph Shotwell

Funeral services for Jody Joseph Shotwell, 78, of Gainesville, are set for 11:00 AM Saturday, September 12, 2015 at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. Burial will follow in New Hope Cemetery under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. A visitation will be held on Friday, September 11, 2015 from 7:00 - 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

Jody was born on May 6, 1937 in Gainesville to Elbert Thornton and Alta Reed (Scarbrough) Shotwell. He passed away on September 8, 2015 in Ardmore, Oklahoma, from complications of Alzheimer's.

Jody retired from the U.S. Navy as an AKCS Senior Chief Aviation Storekeeper after 22 years of service. He worked as a DJ for over 20 years at KGAF, and worked for the Soil Conservation in Mountain Springs. He also owned Joker Entertainment Music Store & Booking Agency, and was a member of several country and western bands.

Jody is survived by his wife Frances Fern Shotwell of Gainesville; daughter Devon and Chris Wood of Frisco; daughter Mistie Snowden and her husband Norm of Lucas; grandchildren Christopher Wood II, Ellorah Snowden, Nohea Snowden, Caiohme Wood, and Claudia Wood. He is also survived by his sister Fay Ramsey and her husband Rickey of Whitesboro; brother Leroy Shotwell of Bonham; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Rachel Shotwell; brother Murrel Shotwell; sister Cindy Garrison; and sister Elsie Edgett.
