Carol Hinchey, 80, passed away October 9, 2015 resting peacefully with her sister by her side. She was born on May 1, 1935 in Drumright, OK to Charles and Bessie Bates. She was a devoted wife, an inspiring mother and a loving grandmother and great-grandmother. Her life was a wonderful example of the Christian walk with great love for her family, her church and her pets. Nothing in life gave her more pride than her children and grandchildren whom she showered with love. She found her passion in painting flowers, landscapes and portraits for many years. She shared her paintings with many in the community
and they hang in homes throughout Cooke County. She won awards at the local Cooke County Art show and helped other artists with the mural at the Frank Buck Zoo. Beyond her painting, she was happiest when entertaining her family. Known to her grandchildren as Bing Bong, she was wise, humble, and most of all generous. She taught all who knew her the lesson of generosity to those less fortunate.
Carol graduated from Wynnewood High School in 1953 and was married to Bill Hinchey for 57 years. She attended Calvary Baptist Church since 1964 where she served as a member and chair of several committees. Carol is survived by her daughter Becky Hinchey Jenkins and husband Carey of Gainesville, and son Johnny Hinchey and wife Darla of Corinth; her grandchildren Alex Jenkins and wife Katie of Denton, Colin Hinchey and wife Katie of Ft. Benning, GA, Connor Hinchey and Audrey Caroline Hinchey of Corinth. She is also survived by her great-grandson Benjamin Jenkins, sister Juanita Nowlin and husband Jerrill, sister Sharon Reynolds, sister-in-law Shirley Brandenberger and husband Buddy, and Betty Shaw.
The Family wishes to thank the compassionate staff of Solaris Hospice Care and Rhonda Silmon RN and her very special caregiving sister Sharon Reynolds. Visitation will be held on Sunday, October 11, 6:00-7:00 p.m. at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home in Gainesville. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, October 12 at 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Gainesville.
In lieu of flowers, her family requests donations be made to Calvary Baptist Church.
