Funeral Mass for Henry Joe Sandmann, 94, of Valley Valley, is set for 10:00 AM Thursday, October 15, 2015 at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Gainesville, Texas. Burial will follow in the Valley View Cemetery under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. A rosary will be held at the funeral home at 6:00 PM Wednesday, October 14 - 2015, with visitation to follow.
Henry was born October 12, 1921 in Lindsay, Texas to Bernard (Ben) and Catherine (Hermes) Sandmann.
Henry married Lorene Lutkenhaus April 4, 1945.
Henry passed away on October 12 - 2015 in the Renissance Care Center in Gainesville, Texas.
He is survived by his children and in-laws: daughter: Laquita (Sandmann) Neu and husband Leon Neu of Gainesville, Son: Kevin Sandmann and his wife Lynda of Valley View, Son: Gary Sandmann and his wife Betty of Gainesville, daughter: Janet (Sandmann) Womack and her husband Richard of Valley View, and Son: Carl Sandmann and wife Cindy of Valley View. He also has 23 surviving Grand children, 44 Great Grand children and 3 Great Great Grand children.
He is survived also by Brothers: Max Sandmann of North Richland Hills, Bernard Sandmann & wife Joan of Sherman, James Sandmann of Lindsay. Sister: Ethel (Sandmann) & husband Gene Schmidlkofer of Gainesville.
He was preceded in death by his wife: Lorene (Lutkenhaus) Sandmann of 70 years, his parents, Son: Alan Sandmann, Great Grand daughter: Gabriel Taylor of Pennesylvania, Grand son: Leon William Henry Neu, and Brothers and Sisters and in-laws: Mary Sandmann, Anne (Sandmann) Bayer & husband George, Rose (Sandmann) Klement & husband Edward, Julius Sandmann & wife Marie, Joe Sandmann, Clem Sandmann & wife Rita, Herman Sandmann, : baby sister: Agness Sandmann.
Henry all his life helped other people, loved life in general. He was a farmer at heart. Raised sorts of different animals. He worked at National Supply for over 20 years and retired, he was one of the first men hired when National Supply came to Gainesville, he was a No. 1 Welder there. When he retired he would go fishing with Brother J.S. Jones and catch all kinds of fish.
He was good to his family, friends. There was not much that he did not know how to do. He made merry-go-rounds for kids in 3 different places, kids loved them.
Pallbearers will be Lorne Neu, Kristopher Sandmann, Brandon Utley, John Ballard, Chad Sandmann, Nathan Sandmann, Michael Sandmann, Matthew Sandmann, and Casey Futch.
