JULIUS HERMES

Funeral services for Julius Bernard Hermes, Jr., 86, of Lindsay, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Monday, October 19, 2015 at St. Peter’s Church in Lindsay with Fr. Philip Petta officiating. Interment will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery. A Rosary service will begin at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 18 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.


Mr. Hermes passed away October 14, 2015 in Denton.


Julius was born March 14, 1929 in Lindsay to Julius and Cecilia Augusta (Flusche) Hermes. He attended school in Lindsay until the eighth grade, leaving school to help with the family farm. He worked on a harvesting crew, traveling to South Dakota. He returned to work as a roughneck in the oil field until he began his 32 year career with the National Supply Company in 1955. The family moved to Lindsay in 1959 where he served two terms as a city council alderman and on the LISD school board. Julius enjoyed farming, both in a joint venture with his brother in Era and another farm west of Lindsay. He was an avid sports fan, following the local teams wherever they played, especially when his children and grandchildren were participating.


Survivors include: wife of 61 years, Clara (Flusche) Hermes of Lindsay; son, Bob Hermes and wife, Janet of Muenster; son, Kenneth Hermes and wife, Paula of Lindsay; son, Stephen Hermes and Glenda of Gainesville; daughter, Carol Hermes of Borger; grandson, Scott Hermes and wife, Kim of Cedar Park; grandson, Brad Hermes and wife, G. of Manor; grandson, Kevin Hermes and wife, Kim of El Paso; granddaughter, Robyn Eggemeyer and husband, Jay of Little Elm; granddaughter, Jenna Tilley and husband, Andrew of Denton; grandson, Matthew Hermes of Gainesville; grandson, Michael Hermes of The Colony; great-grandchildren: Connor, Daegen, Cristof, Ridley, Tara, Hallie, and Caleb; brother, Richard (Edna) of Lindsay; brother, Walter (Jo Ann) of Gainesville; sister, Marcella Zimmerer (Billy) of Lindsay; brother, Patrick (Carol) of Gainesville; sister, Patsy Fleitman (J.D.) of Muenster; sister, Mary Ann Hess of Muenster; and sister-in-law, Mary Evelyn Hermes of Hood.


Mr. Hermes was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William; and grandson, Chad Hermes.


Serving as pallbearers are grandsons: Scott, Brad, Kevin, Matthew, and Michael Hermes; and nephew, Dennis Hermes.
