Shirley Marlene Jones, 79, of Gainesville, passed away on December 7, 2015 in Gainesville. She was born to Melvin Edmund and Gladys Florence (Rowell) Koonce on October 24, 1936 in Thackerville, OK.

She is survived by her daughter Melvenia Byerly and her husband Bubba of Gainesville; son Michael Jones of Gainesville; son David Jones and his wife Susan of Gainesville; daughter Georgianna Pershica and her husband Paul of Gainesville; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; sister Margaret Coulter of Gainesville; sister Tena Lee of Gainesville; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Shirley was preceded in death by her parents; husband Ted J. Jones in 2008; sister Reba Buck; and great-grandson Garrett McPherson.

There will be a remembrance fellowship on Sunday, December 13, 2015 from 4:00 - 6:00 PM at the Backstage Cafe in Gainesville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Home Hospice of Cooke County or VISTO.
