Funeral services for Anita (Proffer) Murphy, 78, of Gainesville, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 29, 2015 with Chaplain James Clinkscales officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
Anita was born January 6, 1937 in Gainesville to Samuel Manfred and Celia Fern (Delisle) Proffer. She passed away December 27, 2015 in Gainesville.
Mrs. Murphy graduated from Gainesville High School in 1955. She worked at Linda Joe’s Shoe Factory and Pecan Tree Manor. She retired from the State School after more than 20 years of service. She married James Lewis Holley in 1957, Charles Bullard in 1960, and Donald Gene Murphy in 1975; all of whom preceded her in death. Mrs. Murphy’s greatest joy in life was being a devoted mother and grandmother.
Survivors include: son Joe K. Holley of Gainesville; daughter Sheila Fette of Gainesville; son Darrell Bullard and wife Tammy of Gainesville; son Harlan G. Murphy and wife Karen of Gainesville; 14 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; sister Paul Whitley of Gainesville; brother J. Dalton Proffer and wife Corene of Gainesville; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mrs. Murphy was preceded in death by: brother Finley M. Proffer and daughter-in-law Vickey Holley.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cancer Society.
