Kent Mckee

Funeral services for Marshall Kent McKee, 73, of Gainesville, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, 2016 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with Ben Willingham officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 2 at the funeral home.

Mr. McKee passed away February 29, 2016 in Denton.

Kent was born October 10, 1942 in Gainesville to Alvin E. and Etna Gertrude (Smith) McKee. He was raised in the Woodbine community and graduated Gainesville High School in 1961. Kent married Shirley Magers on December 8, 1962. He spent most of his career in law enforcement, graduating from the Dallas Police Academy in 1964. He retired from the Denton County Sheriff's Department in 2004. Kent loved to play golf and had many great golfing friends. He was a member of the Callisburg Church of Christ and loved his church family. He was a loving husband and father, and a proud grandfather and great-grandfather. He will be missed by all.

Survivors include: wife Shirley McKee of Gainesville; daughter Kenni Hamilton and husband Jerry of Corinth; son Todd McKee and wife Gina of Corinth; grandchildren: Collin, Cade, Caroline (Josh), and Blair (Zac); great-grandchildren: Addisyn and Jorgia; sister-in-law Saundra Westfall and husband Jim of Collinsville; sister-in-law Billie Miller and husband Dave of Arlington; brother-in-law Brent Magers and wife Jennifer of Lubbock; and numerous special cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
