James Edward Meek

Funeral services for James Edward Meek, 70, of Gainesville, are set for 2:00 PM Saturday, March 26, 2016 at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home, with the Rev. Chet Burges officiating. Burial will follow in the New Resthaven Cemetery under the direction of the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. A visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday, March 25, 2016 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM.

James was born on April 27, 1945 in Gainesville to Robert Henry and Dorothy Viola (Skaggs) Meek. He received his wings on March 22, 2016 in Gainesville at his residence.

James loved doing anything outdoors and being around his family.

He is survived by his wife Ravonda Meek of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law Sue and Saul Sanchez of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law Fina and Wes Hall of Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law Jimmy and Charlene Meek of Gainesville; son and daughter-in-law Robert and Julie McElreath of Gainesville; daughter and son-in-law Condoa and Jackie Parrent of Krum; daughter Devona Meek and her fiance Charles Taylor of Ardmore, OK; son and daughter-in-law Gary and Sue Ann Meek of Jacksboro; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Edith Vaughn of Whitesboro; and brother and sister-in-law Dale and Kathy Meek of Forestburg.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother Robert Wayne Meek; brother Donald Meek; brother Charles Meek; brother Herbert Meek; and granddaughter Taylor Hall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Children's Medical Center of Dallas.
