Dwayne T. Burgess

A memorial service for Dwayne Troy Burgess, 81, of Gainesville, is set for 4:00 PM Thursday, March 31, 2016 at the Church of Jesus Christ on Broadway St. with Bro. Arthur Green officiating.

Dwayne passed away at his beloved home on March 25, 2016. He was born on December 29, 1934 in Marianna, Arkansas to Earl Troy annd Carmen O'neal (Willhite) Burgess.

Dwayne was in the printing trade for 56 years. After he retired from Texoma Web in Gainesville at the age of 76, he went to work for Jack Davis and Daniel Bowles helping on their ranches. He loved building fences, working with cattle, and just farm work in general.

He is survived by his wife of 34 years Shelley Burgess of Gainesville; son Eric Burgess and his wife Rachel of Gainesville; son Ron Burgess and his wife Hanne of Germany; son Ricky Burgess of Medford, OR; son James Burgess of Tampa, FL; daughter Peggy Petit of Erie, KS; grandchildren Brooklyn Burgess, Liam Burgess, Jennifer Thompson, Sara Petit, Elisha Burgess, Brandon Burgess, and Shawn Burgess; and six great-grandchildren. He is also survived by sister Greta Rapson and her husband Jerry of Tulsa, OK; brother Marvin Burgess of Gainesville; and sister Bobbye Earl Ritchie and her husband Rodman of Benton, AR.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother McArthur "Red" Burgess.
