Dorothy Jean Bruton

Dorothy Bruton, of Gainesville, TX, peacefully passed away on Sunday, March 27, 2016, at the age of 85. She was born in Denison, TX on May 29, 1930. She was preceded I death by her husband, Jay W. Bruton and is survived by her children: Jay And Karen Bruton, Deborah and Don Simpson, Joanne and David Graupner, Jeffery and Dana Bruton, and Gerald and Bobbie Bruton. Dorothy had 8 grandchildren, 8 step- and Grandchildren-in-law, and 2 great grandchildren.

During her life, she was a dedicated member of the Eastern Star and an active volunteer in her community, especially in the areas of child welfare and hospice.

She was a long time member of First Baptist Church of Gainesville. In recent years, she had been attending First Baptist Church in Sherman with her daughter, where she was a member of the Pastor's Sunday School class.

Visitation will take place on Tuesday, March 29, between 5pm - 7pm at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home in Gainesville. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church of Sherman on Wednesday, March 30, 2016 at 10:30am, followed by a graveside service at the Fairview Cemetery in Denison, TX, where she will be laid to rest next to her beloved husband, Jay.
