Walter Lawrence Spinhirne

Walter Lawrence Spinhirne, man of strong moral character, deep faith in God, gentle soul, left this world to meet his savior and reap his heavenly reward on June 29th, 2016. He will be greatly missed.

He was born in Vega Texas on March 16th, 1922 to John and Mary. He was brother to John G., Leona and Tony, all of whom preceded him in death, and Fred of Colorado.

He married Louise Brorman on September 13th, 1950 and they settled into their life together in Vega where he owned and operated Spinhirne’s Food Market. Over the years he was also a farmer and business owner in Dimmitt and most recently resided in Gainesville. His one regret in life was that he didn’t get a chance to go to college, however he was a voracious reader and instilled in all of his children the joy of learning.

He was dad, daddy, or pops to Caroline (Steve Bezner), David (Babette), Michael (Sharon), Angela (Keith Jones), Marvin, Regina (Bruce Willit), Kevin (Lori) and Jackie (Daric Davis). He was Papa Walter to Jeff, Sara, Courtney, Dustin, Josh, Seth, Allyson, Christopher, Rachel, Nikki, Aaron, Alec, Kaitlyn, Matthew, Cameron, Megan, Adam, Emily, & Kyle & Great Papa Walter to Logan, Evan, Cole, Anna, Harper, Jared, Avery, Victor, Ashlyn and Ben.

In addition to his parents and siblings he was preceded in death in 2012 by our mom Louise who was the love of his life, and his grandson Cameron Willit.

The funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. on July 23rd, 2016 in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Vega, Tx. Burial will follow in the Vega Cemetery. Rosary will be on Friday July 22nd, 6:30 p.m. at the church.
