James Allen Blount

Funeral services for James Allen Blount, 92, of Gainesville, are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Whaley United Methodist Church with Rev. Denny Hook officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the funeral.

Mr. Blount was born November 23, 1923 in Hood to John Glover and Myrtle Caldonia (Davidson) Blount. He passed away July 10, 2016 in Gainesville.

Survivors include: daughter Marsha Rasure and husband Malcolm of McKinney; son Ronny Blount and wife Susan of Gainesville; daughter Janice Johnson of Gainesville; son Deryl Blount and partner Andrew Besterman of Dallas; grandchildren: Michelle Rasure of Sanger, Jeff Rasure of Lewisville, Jacob Blount of Lake Kiowa, Cecily McWhorter and husband Jacob of Huntsville; and great-grandchildren: Jarrett Rasure, Trenton Blount, Ayden McWhorter, and Carleigh McWhorter.

Mr. Blount was preceded in death by: wife Margaret Blount; his parents; and six brothers.

Serving as pallbearers are: Jeff Rasure, Brent Jeter, Andrew Besterman, Stephen Brock, Scott Williams, Josh Johnson, and Greg Burris.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hood Cemetery Fund, or Home Hospice of Cooke County.
