Elaine Winters

Funeral services for Elaine (Scott) Winters, 75, of Gainesville, are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 14, 2016 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with John Hollar officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 13 at the funeral home.

Mrs. Winters passed way October 11, 2016 in Gainesville.

Elaine was born May 18, 1941 in Cooke County to Frank Leonard and Clara Imogene (Teague) Scott. She married Jimmy Rains in 1957 and worked on the family farm in Thackerville. In 1981, Elaine married Delton Winters. She enjoyed traveling, especially with the Good Sam Club several times a year. Hobbies also included knitting, crocheting, and photography. Above all, Mrs. Winters treasured moments spent with family, particularly during the holiday season.

Survivors include: son Donald Rains and wife Dana of Thackerville; son Weldon Rains and wife Donna of Gainesville; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister Frankie Ellison of College Station; sister Dolores Milam and husband David of Marietta; brother Dale Scott and wife Laujuana of Muenster; brother Tommy Scott and wife Jeanie of Gainesville; sister Martha Smith and husband Mark of Roanoke; brother Harold Scott and wife Rita of Thackerville; and brother Gary Scott of Thackerville.

Mrs. Winters was preceded in death by: her parents; husband Delton Winters; brother Ira Scott; sister-in-law Ann Scott; and brother-in-law A.J. Ellison.
