A visitation and memorial service is planned for Jackie Boy Evans, 61, of Callisburg, Texas on Monday, October 24th, from 5:30-7:00 p.m. at the Hillcrest Church of Christ in Gainesville, Texas. Pastor Ben Willingham of the Callisburg Church of Christ will officiate. Jackie passed away peacefully on Friday, October 14, 2016 after a more than five year battle with pancreatic cancer. He was holding his wife's hand when he died.
Jackie was born on January 22nd, 1955 in Nocona, Texas to Orba Olen Evans and Mary Olean Chaffin Evans. He was a graduate of Gainesville High School where he was a member of the golf and tennis teams. Jackie worked most of his life at area golf courses and was employed by Ward Custom Metal at the time of his cancer diagnosis. Jackie continued to golf, fish, garden, raise cattle and spend time with family and friends throughout his illness. He also found a new hobby he loved in traditional bow shooting.
Jackie was preceded in death by his parents, as well as his stepfather, Barney Hall of Gainesville.
He is survived by his wife Glenda Evans, and sons Cody Evans and Chris Evans, along with their families which include grandchildren Jesse, McCoy and Crew Evans, all of Callisburg. Jackie was also expecting a granddaughter in December. He is also survived by stepchildren Seth Chase, Cindy Wagoner, Crissy Johnson, numerous step grandchildren, brother David Evans and family of Gainesville, and sister Linda Walters and family of St. Jo.
Jackie was a true fighter and will be missed by many.
