William “Bill” Edgar Winter, Jr., 67, of Lindsay, died November 4, 2016, at his home. Mr. Winter was one of three children, born on March 28, 1949, in Denison, Texas. He was a 1967 graduate of Denison High School, who later attended Austin College, where he played football. Bill worked in the aggregate business for almost 40 years, eventually becoming Senior Vice-President of Production for an international corporation.
Bill’s hobbies included golf, fishing, hunting, fishing, tooling around on the farm, and more fishing. He loved an early morning on the lake: it was dark, serene and peaceful. Having lived in Gainesville since 1985, Bill was a big contributor to the community, participating on the Zoo Board as well as the Boys and Girls Club Board. He was an active member at Whaley United Methodist Church, having served in many roles, including Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF) host parent with Linda Winter while their two daughters were in school. Bill was a kind and caring man, who loved his family fiercely.
Mr. Winter was preceded in death by his parents, William Edgar Winter, Sr. and Helen Mary (Horn) Winter. He is survived by his wife, Charlotte, of 21 years, and four children (eight including their spouses). Bill had two daughters and two sons: Kimberly Winter and her husband Jason Pressley, Kassandra Winter Carnley and her husband Billy, Jeffrey Sicking and his wife Jessica, and Justin Sicking and his wife Diana. Bill has ten grandchildren: Katherine Grace and Norah Elisabeth Ruebel; Emalee, Natalee, and Jackson Pressley; Addyson Claire Carnley; William Stone and Skylar Ann Sicking; and Jordan Lee and Dylan Michael Porter. He is also survived by two sisters: Betty Stallings and Carolyn Stanphill.
A Memorial Service will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, November 8, at Whaley United Methodist Church in Gainesville, Texas, with Rev. Jerry Jones officiating, under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. Immediately following the memorial service, the family will receive friends at a reception at the First State Bank Conference Center. In lieu of flowers, please consider a memorial contribution to the Frank Buck Zoo, Boys and Girls Club, or Whaley United Methodist Church, all of Gainesville, Texas.
