Funeral services for Gene H. Sebesta, 86 of Sachse, Texas are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 21, 2016 at the Fairview Cemetery Pavilion with Alvis Nichols, minister of the Wylie Church of Christ officiating. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery, Fair Avenue, Gainesville, Texas.
Gene passed away November 16 in the Baylor Plano Hospital after a lengthy battle with cancer.
Gene was born in Danbury, Texas to Eddie and Hilda (Klimicek) Sebesta. After graduation from Angleton High School, Angleton, Texas, he served four years in the US Air Force, serving a tour in Germany. After his service to his country Gene went to Houston and graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in electrical engineering. Upon graduation, he moved to the Dallas area where he was employed by Collins Radio, Texas Instruments, and Satellink, Inc. At Texas Instruments he worked in the design and development of the F111 terrain following radar. He retired in 2009.
Working with his hands, designing and building or repairing was what Gene loved doing. He was an electronics hobbyist, designing and building electronic, radio, and computer projects. He was once an active ham radio operator W5IND. His Sundays included worship services at the Wylie Church of Christ where he was a member, and watching his beloved Dallas Cowboys.
Survivors include his wife, Ruby Kidd Sebesta, of Sachse, Stepson Steve Minnis of Hurst, Stepson Bryan Minnis and grandson Sam Minnis of Indianapolis, Indiana, brother Clarence Sebesta and his wife Linda of Plano, their daughter Pamela Ewell and her family of McKinney, niece Margo Clayton and her family of Tijeras, New Mexico, nephew Jimmy Sebesta and family from Tom Ball, Texas.
Mr. Sebesta was preceded in death by his parents and his brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Beth Sebesta.
