Glenna Mae Sessums

Funeral services for Glenna Mae Sessums, 92, of Valley View, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 23, 2016 at First Baptist Church in Valley View. Interment will commence at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Restland Cemetery in Dallas. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 22 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home in Gainesville.

Mrs. Sessums passed away November 20, 2016 in Sanger.

Glenna was born February 10, 1924 in Kaufman to Ballard and Virginia (Bryan) Godwin. She was raised in Kemp and in 1947 married Jack W. Sessums in Denton. The couple moved to Dallas where they resided until 1965 when they relocated to Valley View. They settled in the Denton area in 1981. Mrs. Sessums was a dedicated member of First Baptist Church in Valley View where she shared her gift of singing by participating in the choir. She enjoyed cooking and loved serving others. Above all, Mrs. Sessums treasured the time she spent with family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include: son Glenn Sessums and wife Joann of Valley View; daughter Jackie Tipps and husband Larry of Valley View; grandchildren: Ambre Davis (Kyle), Andrea Bernard (Joe), Alex Sessums (Alli), Chris Tipps (Jennifer), Jeremy Tipps (Kami), and David Tipps (Wendi); 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and sister Joan Barrett.

Mrs. Sessums was preceded in death by: her parents; husband Jack W. Sessums; son Bryan Sessums; three sisters; and one brother.
