Gayna Lee Ensey

August 4, 1949 — November 22, 2016

Gayna Lee Ensey, 67, of Forestburg, passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 22, 2016 after years long battle with several illnesses including heart disease. She was born in Gainesville, on August 4, 1949 to Dortha Smith Leach. She attended schools in Fort Worth, TX and Palmdale, CA, and lived in Northern Virginia for approximately 20 years. After finally coming home to her beloved Texas she met and married Byron R. Ensey of Forestburg in 1996.

She had lived and worked in Gainesville before moving to Virginia. During that time, she was a waitress at several local restaurants and had managed the Waffle Inn. She was excellent at her job which explained why so many customers requested that she wait on them.

After marrying Byron she became a dedicated homemaker. She quickly learned and embraced how entertaining a computer could be. Her hobbies included carousels, miniature clocks, and designing and having made for her what she called her “Bling Rings.” Christmas was her favorite time of year because she loved giving to others and she took giving to a whole new level! WinStar was her main “fun spot.”

She is survived by her husband Byron, great-granddaughter Langsten Coates who has lived with them for the past several years; mother Dortha Leach and Step-father Lloyd of Gainesville; father-in-law Dawson Ensey and wife Beverly of Nocona; sons Chad Briley and wife Jacqueline of Gainesville and Bobby Pinkstaff and wife Candice of Tulsa, OK and a daughter Stephanie Pinkstaff also of Tulsa; sister Brenda Fain of Whitesboro; nephew Rick Gow and wife Martha of Ft. Myers, FL; Step-sisters Debra Russell and husband Shaun of Gainesville, Lovey Bumpass and husband Robert of Waco; and Belinda Glur and husband Michael of KY; sister-in-law Sherry Floyd of FL. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren, aunts, uncles, and cousins; her long-time friend of 50 years, LaVelle Elison and special cousin Carla Smith both of Gainesville.

She was preceded in death by her daughter Sonya Christine Maxey of Duncan, OK; grandmother Christine Thomason; aunts and uncles Joyce and James Briley and Billy and Geraldine Smith all of Gainesville; her beloved brother-in-law Doug Fain of Whitesboro; her dear childhood friend Deida Keininger of Gainesville; her sisters-in-law Iris Spain and Angela Driskell of TX.

Please join her family and friends in a “Celebration of Life” at memorial services at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home on Saturday, December 3, 2016 at 2:00 PM.

Her uncle, David Smith, from Birdville Church of Christ, Fort Worth will be officiating and will encourage and welcome anyone that wants to share a special “Gayna Story.”
