Howard L. Mackey

Graveside services for Howard L. Mackey, 81, of Gainesville, are set for 2:00 PM Friday, December 30, 2016 at the Fairview Cemetery with the Rev. Hollis Parsons officiating. A visitation will be held on Thursday, December 29, 2016 from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Howard was born on July 26, 1935 in Gainesville.. He passed away on December 28, 2016 in Gainesville.

Howard was a U.S. Navy Veteran. He worked for the Muenster Police Department, and the Cooke County Sheriff's Office.

He is survived by son Jerry R. Mackey and his wife Amie of Gainesville; son James R. Mackey and his wife Karen of Gainesville; daughter Jenifer Franklin and her husband Billy of Gainesville; grandchildren Amanda Spears, Miranda Wishard, Jeri Mackey, Nicolette Mackey, Binky Mackey, Jayla Mackey, Wallace Ashlock and his wife Laura, Jamie Ashlock, Kyle Harper, Dillon Franklin, Jordon Franklin, Sara Franklin, and John Franklin. He is also survived by great-grandchildren Bentley Ashlock, Dominic Baree III, and Matthew Bulloch.

He was preceded in death by his parents Luther Thomas and Maude Ann (Webster) Mackey; his wife Joan Mackey; brother William T. Mackey; sister Gladys Mackey Fitts; sister Ruby Reed; and sister Ruth Brownd.
