Mass of Christian Burial for Gene Pelzel, 82, of Lindsay is set for 10:30 AM Saturday, at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Lindsay with Fr. Phil Petta officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Cemetery under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. A rosary is set for 7:00 PM Friday at St. Peter’s Catholic Church.
Mr. Pelzel died February 1, 2017 at Presbyterian Hospital in Denton.
He was born May 17, 1934 to John and Annie Pelzel. On October 15, 1955, he married Polly (Mages) Pelzel. After her death on August 25, 2004, he married Emma Moster of Muenster on March 28, 2005. He was plant manager of Valenite until his retirement in 1996, and he continued Hilltop Acres, raising club lambs. He was the charter member of the Lindsay Knights of Columbus #11905 in 1996 where he was Grand Knight for 10 years and an active member all his life. He took a very active role in his parish serving on numerous committees throughout his life.
Gene was known for his strong handshake, as anyone that ever met him would know.
Survivors include his wife Emma of Lindsay; daughter and son-in-law Michelle and Tommy Neu of Lindsay; son and daughter-in-law Matt and Laurie Pelzel of Denton; grandsons: Brian Neu and wife Rachel of Lindsay, Mark Neu and wife Lacy of Muenster, Kevin Neu and wife Amber of Lindsay, and Noah Pelzel of Denton; great-grandchildren Madeline, Eleanor, Luke, Deegan, Hudson, and Bennett, Eli, Kodi, and Gene.
Gene is also survived by his stepdaughter Dr. Susan Moster of Dallas and stepson Jamie Moster of Richardson; step-granddaughter Baylee Moster of Stillwater, OK; sisters: Evelyn Walterscheid of Muenster, Marilyn Weber of Pilot Point, Jenny Dennis of Lindsay; brothers: Johnny Pelzel of Fort Worth, Bobby Pelzel of Collinsville, Harold Pelzel of Cary, NC.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Polly, sister Margaret, and brothers Billy Richard and Ronnie.
Pallbearers are Marcus Dennis, Steve Schmitz, Duane Pelzel, Paul Wolf, Jacob Sprouse, and Jerry Metzler.
Honorary pallbearers are grandsons: Brian, Mark, and Kevin Neu and Noah Pelzel.
