Hugh Chadrick “Chad” Reed, 49, of Krum, passed from his earthly home to his eternal reward Friday, February 24, 2017. Chad was the son of Mike and Elaine (Sears) McHorse of Gainesville and Byron and Lana Reed of Thackerville, Oklahoma. He was born May 16, 1967 in Gainesville. Chad spent his life playing music, writing music, writing poetry, and reading. A lover of animals and all things in nature, he enjoyed his “critters” as he called them and exploring rivers, creeks, mountains, and all of the great outdoors. Family and friends were very dear to him.
Chad’s career began early in life and blossomed over the years. Science and quality assurance were his passions, so it was only natural that his last few years be spent working in the oil industry traveling around the globe teaching safety and quality assurance.
Children in the family adored Chad and he felt the same about them. Many were taught to climb trees, take long walks in the woods, and to identify and collect rocks.
Chad is survived by his parents; wife Angella of Krum; step-son Tristan Bearden of Krum; son Trey Davis of Waycross, GA; daughter Alisa Reich and husband Toby of Cambridge, England; and two grandchildren: Houston and Hannah Davis. He is also survived by a brother, Johnny Reed and wife Tina of Thackerville, OK; niece Nikki Reed and nephew Taylor Reed, both of Thackerville, OK; and great-nephew Jagger Reed; sisters: Jennifer Bayer of Euless, Emily and husband Peter Harville of Ft. Worth; nieces: Lexie Sanchez and Maddie Childers; nephews: Matthew and Zach Bayer, and Nick Childers. He also leaves behind a host of uncles, aunts, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by grandparents: L.A. and Helen West, Chester and Era Lee Reed, and R.B. and Virginia McHorse; uncles: Randell Reed and Tim Reed; aunts: Virginia Kretzschmar, Linda Reed, and Judy Tabler.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 4, 2017, 2:00 p.m. at First United Methodist Church, Gainesville with Rev. John Fleming officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 -2:00 p.m. prior to the services. Arrangements are under the care of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.
