Wylie Lewis

The memorial service for Wylie Lee Corbin Lewis, 77, of Gainesville, is scheduled for 5:30 PM on Tuesday, March 14, 2017 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with Eddy Ramsey officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.

Mr. Lewis passed away March 9, 2017 in Gainesville.

Wylie was born July 5, 1939 in Muenster to Bailey and Thelma (Atterberry) Corbin. Wylie’s mother passed away when he was a small baby and he was adopted by Mims and Dena Lewis. He married Magdalen Noggler of Muenster in April 1958 and they had five children together. Later in life, he married Gayle Kelly.

Wylie stared his own trucking company, Wylie Lewis Trucking, (later known as Lewis Grain Sales) in the late 1960s and operated the business until his health began to fail him in 2015.

Survivors include: son Terry Lewis of Carrollton; son Michael and fiancé Lynn Homer of Muenster; son Wylie Lewis Jr. of Callisburg; son Doyle Lewis of Florida; daughter Thelma Baxter of Breckenridge; brother Roger Corbin and wife Becky of Midlothian; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Mr. Lewis was preceded in death by: his parents; his adopted parents; wife Gayle Kelly Lewis; and several aunts and uncles.
