Funeral services for Karen Sue (Dutton) Gregg, 53, of Gainesville, were held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, March 12, 2017 at Crossroads Baptist Church in Gainesville with Pastor Randy Taylor officiating. Interment took place at Mount Tabor Cemetery in Sadler.
Karen Dutton Gregg went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 11, 2017 after a long battle with cancer. Karen was born on January 25, 1964. Karen was the daughter of Nell Ware & Bill Dutton.
Karen married Jody Gregg on May 27, 1993. During their marriage, Karen and Jody raised six children and welcomed four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Karen was a faithful member of Crossroads Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday School teacher, bus worker, and camp counselor for over 20 years. Karen loved the Lord and served him with all of her heart. She was a great servant as evidenced by years of faithful Saturday morning visitations. Her ministry through the church touched many children’s lives and brought them to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ. She worked and loved by her husband’s side on the church bus route for the last 23 years. Through their work at the church Karen and Jody came to love several children in the church as their own, including Rebecca, Michael, Destiny, Dewayne, Yajaira, JB, Josh, and Gage, being a mother to them they would never have. They even adopted 3 children that had no other place to call home.
She leaves a void in caring for God’s children that may never be filled.
Karen is survived by her husband of 23 years, Jody Gregg; daughter Brandy Cardenas and husband Bob; son Jamie Gregg; son Colt Eberhart and friend Britni Smith; daughter Rebecca Copeland and husband Lewis; son Jeremy Kenner; daughter Jodie Knuckles; daughter Danielle Knuckles; grandchildren Samantha, Cody, Nikki, and Parker; great-grandson Cayden; mother Nell Ware and husband Joe; father Bill Dutton; sister Sharon Dutton Hess and husband Terry; brother Clint Dutton; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Mission Fund at Crossroads Baptist Church.
