J. B. Gray, Jr.

J.B. Gray Jr., of Moss Lake, passed away on March 23, 2017, at the age of 70, at the Clyde Cosper State Veteran’s Home in Bonham, Texas after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease. He was born on September 9, 1946 in Auburn, California to parents J.B. and Aleta Gray, the fifth of eleven children. He was a graduate of the 1964 class at Turner High School, and continued his higher education at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in Durant, Oklahoma, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. He was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

On January 6, 1973, he married the love of his life, Patricia Riemer, in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania. His early professional career included working in the oil industry and farming on the family land. He then completed his career as a salesman in the auto industry, retiring in 2007.

J.B.’s many activities included fishing, relaxing at the lake, spending time with family and friends, and coaching and watching sports. He was also actively involved in his children’s lives. He dedicated many of his early years teaching and coaching his children in youth sports. He was a fun and loving grandpa to his three grandsons.

J.B. is survived by his wife, Patti, of the home; son Trey, of Harker Heights, Texas; daughter Ashley, and son in law Robbie Newton and grandsons Connor, Nash, and Dane, of Denton, Texas; brothers Randy Gray of Marietta, Oklahoma; Ricky Gray of Marietta, Oklahoma; and Greg and wife, Tammy Gray, of Waxahachie, Texas; sisters Jackie Henderson, of Ardmore, Oklahoma; Celestine and husband Glenn Ritter, of Ardmore, Oklahoma; Patricia and husband, Mel Knight, of Ponca City, Oklahoma; Loretta and husband, Glenn Stearns, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; and Linda Gray, of Ardmore, Oklahoma. He was also loved by many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents, J.B. and Aleta Gray, and brothers, Carroll and Cary Gray.

A memorial service will be held at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home, 602 Lindsay St., Gainesville, Texas 76240 on March 27th at 1:00 P.M.
