Frances Gray Wallace

August 20, 1922 — April 5, 2017

On Wednesday April 5, 2017 we lost our mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Frances Deane Gray Wallace passed away in Gainesville, Texas after living 94 1/2 years. She was born on August 20, 1922 to Henry D. and Lillian Strickler Gray in Fayetteville, Arkansas. At the age of 14 she met Richard "Dick" Wallace in Prairie Grove, Arkansas, and on June 22, 1941 they were married in Springfield, MO. Just a month from being discharged from the National Guard, war was declared and thus began their journey to numerous training camps ending up at Camp Howze in Gainesville. Dick was shipped to Germany, and Frances went to Topeka, Kansas for the birth of their first child. When the war ended, Gainesville was their choice to plant their roots. She became a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Gainesville. Eventually and together, they started North Texas Marine. Once it was off the ground, Frances took care of the home front and blessed us with her cooking talents. Pastries, cinnamon rolls and her very special "angel cake" were our favorites. We will truly miss her baking as none of us have that gift.

She is survived by her daughter Mary Wallace of Gainesville, son Joe Wallace and his wife Patti of Gainesville, grandsons Bradley Wallace and his fiance' Tarin Seely of Fort Worth, Brian Wallace and wife Sara of Gainesville, great-grandchildren Landry Kay and Merritt Brian Wallace. They were her joy and what she lived for.

Frances was preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother Henry D. Gray Jr.
