Graveside services for James Thomas Williams, 68, of Woodbine, are scheduled for 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 4, 2017 at Nelson Grove Cemetery with Rev. James Kittrell officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, May 3 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.
Mr. Williams passed away April 29, 2017 at his home in Woodbine.
James was born February 23, 1949 in Gainesville to Hardie Elisha and Delma Lee (Daily) Williams. He was raised harvesting cotton and peanuts on the family farm in Thackerville. A retired veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves, Mr. Williams served in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969 with the 3/5 Cav. and is a Life Member of VFW Post 1922. He married Alecia Hodges on July 23, 1971 in West Columbia, TX. Mr. Williams was a carpenter, worked in the oil field, and retired from Peterbilt. He was a member of Woodbine Baptist Church.
Survivors include: wife Alecia Hodges Williams of Woodbine; daughter Caressa LeAnn Huddleston of Callisburg; son James Delane Williams and fiancé Jaime Monkres of Era; grandchildren: Shanna BreAnn, Parker Lane, and Ashtyn Skyler Huddleston; sister Vivian Cummings of Winston-Salem, NC; sister LaRue Beal and husband Miller of Gainesville; brother David Fine and wife Vicky of Meeker, OK; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mr. Williams was preceded in death by: his parents; sister Myrtle Bailey; sister Rebecca Kittrell; and brother John E. Williams.
Serving as pallbearers are: Jonah Kittrell, Casey Fine, Charlie Hodges, Jackie Barnes, Delane Williams, and Parker Huddleston. Honorary pallbearers are: David Fine, Jody Lyons, and Cory Huddleston.
