Graveside services for Mary Ellen Norton, 89, of Gainesville, will be held at 3:00 PM Friday, June 9, 2017 at Fairview Cemetery with Rev. Jerry Jones officiating.

Mary Ellen passed away Friday, June 9, 2017 in Gainesville. She was born August 20, 1927 in Cooke County, to Travis and Nannie (Truitt) Norton. She was the owner and operator of Mary Ellen’s Beauty Salon for over 50 years.

Mrs. Norton is survived by her sister Dr. Nan Platas of Santa Fe, NM; niece Dr. Ellen Platas Santa Fe, NM; great-nephew Hugo Riggs of Santa Fe, NM; Nephew Gerald Collins of Augusta, GA; niece Dr. Della Cooke of Bloomington, IN; cousin Barbara Hutson of St. Jo.
Mary Ellen was preceded in death by her parents and her sister Lucy Collins.
