Leo Giles

A memorial service for Leo Giles Jr., 60, of Gainesville, is scheduled for 6:00 PM on Wednesday, July 19, 2017 at Whaley United Methodist Church with Rev. Jerry Jones officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Mr. Giles passed away July 16, 2017 in Denton.

Leo was born August 9, 1956 in Philadelphia, PA to Leo and Clara Mae (McClain) Giles Sr. He was raised in North Carolina and attended college at North Carolina Central University and Duke University. He received a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and was a member of Omega Psi Phi. Mr. Giles was a Missile Control Launch Officer in the U.S. Air Force. Following his service, he owned and operated JTL & Co., a direct sales company. He had resided in Gainesville since 2003. Mr. Giles was a passionate Washington Redskins fan, enjoyed playing pool, and treasured the time spent with family and friends.

Survivors include: daughter Jessica Giles Woody of Woodbridge, VA; son Merlin Giles of Gainesville; daughter Sydney Giles of Gainesville; wife Karen Giles of Gainesville; sister Phyllis Prince of Apex, NC; sister Deborah Battles and husband Phillip of Raleigh, NC; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Mr. Giles was preceded in death by his parents.
