William "Billy" Dean Houghland

Funeral services for William "Billy" Dean Houghland, 83, of Gainesville, is set for 10:00 AM Friday, July 21, 2017 at Real Life Church with Pastor Charlie Pickett officiating. Burial will follow in the Nelson Grove Cemetery under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. A visitation will be held on Thursday, July 20, 2017 from 7:00 - 8:00 PM at the Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Billy was born on April 16, 1934 in Chicago, Illinois to Augustus Houghland and Gladys Noreen (Felkins) Houghland. He passed away on Monday, July 17, 2017 in Gainesville.

Billy retired from the U.S. Army as a Chief Warrant Officer 2, and was a POW in the Korean War.

He is survived by his daughter Terri Graves and her husband Johnny of Gainesville; daughter Robin Hobbs and her husband Robert of Ardmore, OK.; daughter Kathy Sutherland and her husband Tim of Sulphur Springs; son Brad Houghland of Tom Bean; daughter Tracy Elston and her husband Randal of Stuart, OK.; grandchildren Christopher Brown, Tiffany Thompson, Kenny Houghland, Jennifer McElroy, Rachel Treat, Jason Brown, Jeffrey Houghland, Matthew Preston, Jonathon Graves, Taylor Houghland, Buddy Hobbs, and Courtney Hobbs. He is also survived by numerous great-grandchilden, nieces, and nephews.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents; wife Mary L. Houghland; two brothers, and a sister.
