Anna Scott

Anna Charabet Scott, 94, of Gainesville, passed away July 17, 2017 in Gainesville.

Anna was born July 20, 1922 in Anadoll, Russia to Parfetjewna and Valya Charabet. At the end of World War II, she met a U.S. soldier, SSgt. James Scott in Munich, Germany. They were married by German Law on September 12, 1947. A U.S. marriage was performed by a U.S. Chaplin on September 16, 1947. They came to American by ship on January 18, 1948, landing in New York City, NY. Anna was sworn in as a naturalized citizen on August 3, 1981 in Sherman, TX.

Survivors include: son Jimmy Scott of Dallas; daughter Pat Dudenhoeffer and husband Tim of Valley View; granddaughter Jamie Layer and husband Michael of Arvada, CO; grandson Barry Scott and wife Ammie of Gainesville; granddaughter Anna Scott of Austin; and six great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Scott was preceded in death by: her parents; husband James Scott; and son Johnny Scott.

Services under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son will be private. Mrs. Scott will lie in state at the funeral home the evening of Wednesday, July 19 for anyone who wishes to pay their respects.

In lieu of floral tributes, the family requests that memorials be made to Calvary Baptist Church.
