Justin David Sandmann, 15, passed away unexpectedly at his home in Eagle River, Alaska on September 16, 2017.
Justin was born in Panama City, Florida on November 7, 2001. He became a resident of Alaska when his family moved in November 2015.
He attended Eagle River High School where he was just starting his sophomore year. He loved football and wrestling and was affiliated with St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Eagle River.
His family wrote, “Justin enjoyed hanging out with his friends, making people laugh, giving hugs and eating lots of candy.” A vigil was held in Eagle River, Alaska at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church on Wednesday, September 20, 2017. A visitation and rosary will be held on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home, 602 Lindsay Street in Gainesville, TX at 6:30pm. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with Father Philip Petta officiating.
Survivors include his father Chad T. Sandmann; mother Kim Sandmann; brothers Logan Sandmann, Brandon Sandmann and family; sister Ashley ChavezSandmann and family; grandma Doris “Toot” Sandmann; grandpa Leroy “Peanut” Sandmann; grandma Deborah Doucette; grandpa Arthur “Bag’s” Doucette, Jr; uncles Corey, Kyle and Kacey Sandmann and their families and Arthur Doucette III and family; aunt Lori Snyder and family; and a multitude of extended family members and friends.
Arrangements are with Janssen’s Eagle River Funeral Home in Alaska and Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.
