Donald "Donny" Russell Young

Graveside services for Donny Young, 59, of Gainesville, are scheduled for 11:00 AM on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Oak Grove Cemetery with Pastor Rick Isham officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30 to 10:30 AM on Wednesday at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home.

Mr. Young passed away September 23, 2017 in Gainesville.

Donny was born November 30, 1957 in Gainesville to Charles Russell and Mary Lou (Winters) Young Jr. He graduated from Gainesville High School in 1976. Donny worked for Sante Fe Railroad before he had a long career with Gainesville Glass Co. He enjoyed fishing, singing, collecting tools, rocks, and polished glass, and was skilled in crafting stained glass. Most of all, Donny treasured the time spent with family, particularly his children and grandchildren.

Survivors include: son Walton “Walt” Russell Young and fiancé Stephanie Annarella of Ponder; daughter Sandee Deann Mercer and husband Derek of Whitesboro; grandchildren: Michigan, Gavin, and Lindsay; brother Ronny Young and wife Debbie of Lake Kiowa; brother Kenneth R. Young and wife Mi-Ja of Denton; and mother of his children, Deann Bellar of Gainesville.

Mr. Young was preceded in death by: his parents; and grandson Russell James Mercer.
