Gerald Pearson, 92, retired farmer passed away on Friday, October 13, 2017. Funeral will be Wednesday, October 18 at 1:00 p.m. at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. Visitation will be one hour prior to funeral. Memorials may be made to Spring Creek Cemetery Foundation, 624 W. University Drive PMB 315, Denton, Texas 76201.
Gerald was born April 11, 1925 to William N. Pearson and his wife Grace Knight on the Pearson farm west of Gainesville where he lived his entire life. He was the youngest child of their six children.
Gerald graduated from Gainesville HS in 1942. He worked on his farm his whole life but also worked at Convair in Fort Worth, the Cotton Compress in Gainesville and ended his career at Valenite in Gainesville.
In 1968 he married his beloved wife Gladys Smith who joined him on the farm. Together they spent 42 happy years working, traveling, & visiting family. She passed in 2010.
Gerald was a faithful member of Spring Creek Methodist church and later Era Methodist church. He also served as a Board Member and Treasurer of the Spring Creek Cemetery Association. Many years were spent tending and caring for graves of his ancestors buried there.
Gerald cared for his mother until her death in 1971. He was also predeceased by his wife, father, three brothers, William, Robert, and Hugh, and one sister, Elizabeth.
Survivors: Sister, Dorothy Stanfield of Mesquite, sister-in-law, Olive Pearson, of Fort Worth, and nine nieces & nephews, including Gary Pearson (Paula), Debbie Pearson, Shari Pearson, Peggy Pearson, Pat Pearson, & David Gurley.
