Funeral services for Eva Neely (Mize) Followill, 84, of Gainesville, are scheduled for 2:00 PM on Monday, November 20, 2017 at Temple Baptist Church with Dr. Eddie Chennault officiating under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Temple Baptist Church from 1:00 to 2:00 PM prior to the service.
Mrs. Followill passed away November 17, 2017 in Gainesville.
Eva was born February 24, 1933 in Anson, TX to William Arthur and Neely Elizabeth (Johnson) Mize. She married Kenneth Followill in June 1951 in Anson. Mrs. Followill attended Cooke County College and North Texas State University, earning her Associate’s, Bachelor’s, and Master’s Degrees. She was an educator for Callisburg and Gainesville ISDs, teaching at Elementary and Middle School levels.
Mrs. Followill was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a charter member of Temple Baptist Church. She spent her leisure time playing Bridge and fishing. A thoughtful hostess, Mrs. Followill loved to host parties and gatherings, especially for her family. Her memory will be treasured by those that loved her.
Survivors include: daughter Donna Denel Mask and husband Mark of Gainesville; granddaughter Brandi Barnett and husband Evan of Fulshear; granddaughter Emily Ann McNairn of Ardmore, OK; great-grandchildren: Bailey and Avery; friend Christie Hall and husband David of Gainesville; friend John Gray of Gainesville; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mrs. Followill was preceded in death by: husband of 58 years, Kenneth Alton Dee Followill; parents William Arthur and Neely Elizabeth (Johnson) Mize; son Darrall Followill; sister Ruby McDougle Bragg; sister Lena Christian Neithercutt; brother William O. Mize; brother Odell Mize; and brother LeeRoy Mize.
Serving as pallbearers are: Butch Stone, Sammy Leach, Brent Cantrell, Greg Newman, John Gray, and Charles Wayne Scott.
Memorial contributions may be made to Temple Baptist Church or a charity of one’s choosing.
