Thomas Edward Norton

A funeral service for Thomas Edward Norton, 68, of Valley View, is set for 11:00 AM Saturday, November 25, 2017 at the Hillcrest Church of Christ with David Gray officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery. A visitation will be held starting 10:00 AM Saturday at the Church.

Mr. Norton passed away Wednesday, November 22, 2017 in Gainesville. He was born December 25, 1948 in Kansas City, MO.

Ed graduated from Ponder High School in May of 1967. He joined the US Army on May1, 1968 and was stationed at Ft. Polk, LA, Vietnam and Ft. Sill, OK. After his tour of duty with the US Army, he worked odd jobs until July 7, 1977 when he started his career in Law enforcement. He worked at the Sanger Police Department, Wise County Sheriff’s Department, and Corinth Police Department. He retired in 2008 from the Corinth Police Department after 31 years of service.

Mr. Norton married Trisha Talkington in December of 1988 at Lake Bridgeport, in Wise County.

In 1999, Ed and Trisha moved to Cooke County and built a house on 22 acres in Mountain Springs. After retirement in 2008, he and Trisha raised their three grandchildren Tristen, Trey, and Emily.

Mr. Norton loved to work with his hands, building things, fixing broken toys, for his grandchildren, mowing, clearing cedars, and raising cattle.

Ed and Trisha traveled around the US visiting many states and national parks. They enjoyed the beauty of nature and many amazing sites. They shared their love of traveling with his mother and father-in-law. They were blessed to share some of those same experiences with their grandchildren.
