Billie Christian Webb

Funeral services for Billie Christian Webb, 95, of Dallas, are set for 11:00 AM Friday, December 29, 2017 at the Rosston Methodist Church with the Rev. Doyle Henderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Rosston Cemetery under the direction of Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home. No visitation is planned.

Billie Christian Webb was called by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on December 24, 2017 to join her beloved husband, brothers, sisters and family in heaven. She was born on August 13, 1922 on a farm outside of Rosston TX to Hillary (Hill) and Lounis Weaver Christian, their ninth of ten children. Her mother, Lounis, died in child birth fourteen months later, leaving Billie to be raised by her elder siblings and a doting community.

Billie loved to tell of riding the wagon with her father, Hill, taking all of one day into Gainesville to buy provisions for the farm. The team and wagon left in the livery overnight as they shopped and stayed in the hotel. Returning the next day back to the farm with their goods loaded in the wagon, along with the medicinal provision of bootlegged whiskey procured from the wagon yard.

To have an accredited diploma, Hill sent Billie to Gainesville to high school. Here she met many lifelong friends and would later be invited to dance at the Baker Hotel with the soldiers from Camp Howze. As all good stories go, the rest is history. Meeting and dancing with Captain Arthur Webb from Tampa Florida, the two wed April 9, 1944 at Camp Claiborne in Louisiana.

After WWII Billie and Arthur took up residency in Dallas and had two sons, Chipley Hill and Don Holleman. Billie had a long career with 20th Century Fox in film distribution as Arthur worked in commercial sales. Deciding to control their own futures, they started their business, Elect-A-Van Service, in 1967, now known as EVS Supply.

Life long members of the Methodist Church, they were founding members of Ridgewood Park Methodist, later moving their membership to Highland Park Methodist and always sustaining to the Rosston Methodist.

Billie was preceded in death by her parents, all of her siblings and their spouses and her husband. She is survived by her son Chip and wife Martha, son Don and wife Victoria, four grandchildren, Stacey Bond, Vic Webb, Ana Jopling and Lindsey Webb. She has five great grandchildren, Braxton Bond, Brynn Bond, Josh Silva, Alyssa Silva and Emma Webb. Three cherished nieces, Nora Hudspeth, Suzanne Druss and Judy Henriksen and one beloved nephew, Fred Christian.

Always the consummate host, Billie loved to share a meal with her family and friends, making Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas special times of treasured memories.

Although tied to the city for economic benefit, the love of the land and the Rosston community was always her corner stone. She made certain her sons had the same childhood experiences of growing up on the farm and to know their heritage was deeply rooted in Cooke County.

Billie will be interned in the Rosston Cemetery beside her husband Arthur and amongst parents, siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends all truly loved.
