Funeral services for Shirley Arrington, 70, longtime resident of Callisburg, most recently of Gainesville, are scheduled for 10:00 AM on Tuesday, January 2, 2018 at Geo. J. Carroll & Son Funeral Home with Rev. Hollis Parsons officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 6:00 PM on Monday, January 1 at the funeral home.
Mrs. Arrington passed away December 28, 2017 in Gainesville.
Shirley was born January 22, 1947 in Dallas. She was a graduate of Valley View High School and the Cosmetology Program at North Central Texas College. Shirley married Bobby Arrington in Callisburg on March 28, 1992. She worked in the Gainesville community as a beautician for many years and served as Activities Director at Pecan Tree Manor. Shirley loved her family (particularly her grandchildren), and caring for others. She was a true “people person,” never having met a stranger.
Survivors include: husband of 25 years, Bobby Arrington of Gainesville; son Jeremy Arrington and wife Amanda of Lake Kiowa; step-daughter Lisa Jones and husband Kenny of Corinth; step-daughter Tammy Lovato of Gainesville; grandchildren: Hunter, Hayden, Hudson, Dakota, Dustin, Gabby, Megan, Steven, and Tyler; sister Joyce Hood of Gainesville; sister Glenda Rathburn and husband Darrell of Gainesville; sister Patsy Wright of Gainesville; brother Bill Wooten and wife Lou of Callisburg; sister Vickie Tischler and husband Roy of Whitesboro; brother-in-law Bill Roberts of Sherman; brother-in-law Johnny Shaw of Gainesville; sister-in-law Peggy Wooten of Sherman; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Mrs. Arrington was preceded in death by: parents Ralph and Ora Wooten; sister Betty Roberts; sister Alice Roberts; sister Peggy Shaw; brother Randy Wooten; and brother Bobby Wooten.
